Book: The Great Chicken Heist
Author:
Ramona A. Reynolds
Illustrator: Dejah-Lee Busch

A short article appeared in the Queen Charlotte Islands Observer recently about Ramona A. Reynolds’ and Dejah-Lee Busch’s new children’s book. The text of the article is below:

Dejah-Lee Busch, who grew up in Masset, has just illustrated her first children’s book, “The Great Chicken Heist”.
The book was written by Ramona Reynolds, who also has ties to the islands. She’s the niece of longtime Masset residents Art and Bev Reynolds. Ms Busch is the granddaughter of Masset carver and artisan Joan Hart.
The story, set in rural Alberta during the 1950s, is about 10-year-old Art and his younger brother Ralph, who hatch a plan to have the best cook-out of their lives. The boys head off to nearby Lucky Farm to get their hands on some chickens. After creating mischief at the farm, the boys return home with the spoils of their victory, only to discover their secret has been discovered and they are now facing the consequences of their afternoon adventure.
Islanders can purchase “The Great Chicken Heist” in Masset from Art and Bev Reynolds who will have a limited number of signed copies. They can be reached at 626-3776.
